St John the Baptist is one of the four surviving churches from the 12th century built into the medieval city wall. Of particular interest are the sculptures of pre-Roman leaders, Brennus and Bellinus. Our work at the church included cleaning and conserving the tower, spire and medieval stonework, repointing and replacing masonry elements, dismantling and re-building the structurally unstable stair turret, and conserving the medieval statuary, shields and clock faces. St. John the Baptist is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
