Training & Education Introduction

'It is essential to develop, maintain and pass on the specialist knowledge and skills necessary to sustain the historic environment'.

Conservation Principles, Policy and Guidance; English Heritage

Over many years Sally Strachey has been involved in developing professional training in craft and conservation, and in delivering skills programmes for school pupils, students and professionals. She actively supports the training of her own staff through CPD and apprenticeship programmes.

Interpretation and education is an important element of our work, particularly on historic sites open to the public. Sally’s team supports on-site training, outreach work and positive interaction with the public.

We offer gender role models of women working at all levels from main contractor and site manager to mason and conservator.
